Description
The Vietnamese Walking Stick Insect, also known as the Annam Stick Insect, is a fascinating wingless species originating from Vietnam. Its long, slender body and natural twig-like camouflage make it an excellent addition to an invertebrate collection or educational display.
This species is generally straightforward to keep and is suitable for both newer and experienced stick-insect keepers. Adults require a tall, well-ventilated enclosure with plenty of branches and clear hanging space for successful moulting. Females can reach approximately 11 cm, while males are usually smaller at around 7.5 cm.
Food plants
Feed fresh, pesticide-free:
- Bramble
- Rose
- Hawthorn
- Oak
Replace food regularly and place cut stems in a securely covered water container to prevent insects from falling into the water.
Basic care
Keep at a comfortable household temperature, away from direct sunlight and extreme heat. Light misting provides drinking droplets, but the enclosure should remain well ventilated and should not be kept constantly wet.
